What my practice looks like

Bass solos- analyse & comment

Many teachers tell you how to improvise ie, use the triads, change the rhythm.. but how and what notes exactly.  I mean, 'show me'... so I decided to sit down (for hours) dissecting 3 short solos while learning the C minor 7 all over the fretboard.

Below are suggestions for another student about groove.
* targeting the 3rd and 7th of the chords to focus on time and phrasing!

*tip on switching directions at the highest and lowest possible note in the position - thanks!

Let's Get it Started by The Black Peas

What a great groove that uses roots and fifths. It's interesting to learn this song my ear. You start to ear octave, and fifths (or you should at this stage, for me)). I can't get this song out of my head!

Off Beats using Led Leppelin's rhythm

Listening to the off beat, using a track who's music has off-beats (Led Zeppelin), then going to the pentatonic box, and seeing how many different types of basslines that I can come up with.

White RabbiT

Let's start this year with a performance. January 2 2024! We were amongst friends and it was fun to have practiced this, around 3, 4 times and get it out there! It's still a bit rough, but we'll perfect it next time!
