Bass Rumblings

A place for those wanting to watch the struggles of a budding musician...

Too often, we watch people who give an amazing musical performance, or a young 5 year old virtuoso and we are left feeling defeated.

You get to a certain age where you think 'I'm too old for that', or "can't do that because it takes talent" or "you need to start as a kid- you missed the boat". If you continue to think like that, you really won't be good and you will have missed the boat to life.  You are a negative thinking person, but because you are reading this... I'm assuming that we are rowing the same boat as me :)

What projects do you start when you are in your 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's??

Tennis... golf...  ukulele...

I play ukulele, and am okay-- can play chords and sing the wrong notes. However, what the ukulele gave me were friends in the older age bracket (not in the prime 20's!) who were doing the same as myself-- started playing a string instrument at a later part of their life.  PS. I did learn how to play the piano as a child, and the guitar somewhat as a teenager, and watched others play instruments in my adults life.

What's my mission in creating this website?

I want you to be encouraged and start playing a musical instrument or to pick up your guitar, bass,  ukulele (I was going to include harp, and piano, but a bit hard to lift!).

I meet people who say that they too old to do this, or feel they can't, or was told they can't.

You are NOT TOO OLD.  You can have fun. Music has opened so many doors of friendship... unbelievable.

I got over myself, and I'm showing you the warts and all.  And .. okay, okay... it also gives me motivation to keep going. There has to be something in it for me too :)

The purpose of this website

I want to be accountable for my practice, and my learning.

The best way that I know is to  write my commitments, and  to follow through with them.

You are my audience, my encouragers, my friends. Actually, the YOU is the WWW... I would hope real people watch my practice, but I am realistic :)   People are busy, and you have your own life... that's okay.

I have  an inner-want, a great DESIRE to learn this instrument to the best of my ability.  I have the rest of my life--

I commit to...
